Should There be Free Home Security Systems?
from: home-security.report-here.comMankind has developed enormously over the last few thousand years. Today, with our internet technology we are able to access information from anywhere at any time, and communicate cheaply across the world almost instantly. Nowadays, normal people like you and me command sums of money and lifestyles that people of yesteryear could've only dreamt about.
Certain aspects of life have not changed though. Human fallibility means that we will still make mistakes and be subject to temptation; "the grass is always greener on the other side" applies as much today as it always has. Unfortunately, theft is as prevalent today as it has always been. Each year, crime rates seem to be rising and with increasing material prosperity comes the greater risk of losing it to thieves. Hence the rise in popularity of home security systems for protection and security of our belongings and our home.
Sadly, most people will only think about installing a home security system after they have suffered a break in or someone they know has been burglarized. Most of us like to think that burglary is something that happens to someone else. But we are all at risk from this crime, and complacency is no defence. Most victims are shocked that such a thing could possibly happen to them, when their house was most likely chosen because it was the least risky one to burglarize. Sometimes, the same house is targetted for burglary repeatedly when no steps are taken to increase home security.
So what can normal everyday people like you and me do to prevent such an event happening to us? Home security systems are now widely available, but can be quite expensive. Sometimes having a home security system installed can be so expensive that you may as well have been robbed! This is why it would be a good idea to fund some kind of scheme, government aids and grants, or private real estate developers, that provides free home security systems to people and neighborhoods that otherwise would not be able to afford them. Quite often poorer neighborhoods can be higher crime areas so there would be enormous fringe benefits of installing free home security systems here, such as a general reduction in crime and rising house prices.
They need not be advanced state-of-the-art technology, but free home security systems should be practical and effective. Try to picture how much safer people will feel if they were given free home security systems when they cannot afford to buy them. Worry and fear of crime and feeling insecure about leaving your home plays a part in loss of workplace productivity due to the stress it can place on people, apart from all their money worries. People cannot work efficiently if they are constantly worried that their home might be burglarized for possessions that they cannot easily replace.
As we have said, such lower income people are not likely to be able to afford home security systems. However, if free home security systems were made available, this would reduce the stress and worry about crime at their homes and focus on their work. Some employees may also have children which they leave at home unattended because they need to get to work. So if an intruder breaks in when those children are at home alone, this crime could turn out to be much worse than just a simple burglary. For instance, if a burglary is interrupted the thief may well panic and turn dangerous, attacking anyone who stands in his way.
Installing free home security systems for people who need them but cannot afford them, will help to prevent such people becoming victims of burglary and sometimes much worse crimes. So why would free home security systems be offered in the first place? Real estate developers and agents have realised that their clients are much more likely to buy or rent a house with a free home security system installed, and so have added value to their properties by installing home security systems as a free upgrade to try to make the sale.
Your house is the one place that you and your family should be able to feel safe and secure. So the availability of free home security systems would help to increase your sense of safety at home without the stress of having to pay for home security that you could not otherwise afford. Should the government help? Well free home security systems would significantly reduce crime rates which means that the government would be able to save money on policing, the justice system, jails, and other such expenses. Installing free home security systems would be a great vote winner and we would feel that the government directly cared for our home safety and security.
The sense of security at home has been decreasing year by year as the threat of crime keep rising. So free home security systems may be a vital step to build confidence back in poorer communities where the threat of burglary and crime is a constant fear for residents.
